National Talent ID manager recognises star potential
Thursday 11th December 08
RFL National Talent Identification Manager, Graham Davey believes that the star potential of fourteen year old England Wheelchair World Cup Winner Harry Brown is akin to anything he has ever seen.
The Halifax based 14 year old was one of the stand out players in the triumphant England Wheelchair team that recently lifted the World Cup in Australia and will be joining the rest of the squad along with the World Cup at Saturday’s Wheelchair Rugby League tag festival in Wakefield.
Graham Davey, RFL National Talent Identification Manager, said: “I have been fortunate enough to work with many international players within Rugby League and I can wholeheartedly say that the way Harry conducted himself on tour and the focus and commitment he showed is akin to anything I have seen.
“For a 14 year old this is quite remarkable, I know that Harry is involved in a wide range of sports and with his attitude I am sure he will go along way in whichever discipline he chooses to focus on.
“For him to not only compete but be on of the stand out performers in a World Cup at such a tender age is an achievement that needs recognising throughout the sporting world.
“To my knowledge he is the youngest World Cup winner ever and he fully deserves any recognition he receives.”
If you are interested in getting involved in Wheelchair Rugby League the next Tag Festival will be held at The Lightwaves Leisure Centre Wakefield, West Yorkshire this Saturday 13 December between 10-4.
There will be coaching and competitions for existing players and teams as well as for emerging teams and interested individuals. Equipment is available for first timers and the session is open to non disabled and disabled people. Please email Malcolm Kielty on mail@malcolmkielty.co.uk for details of this event.
