Julie has lifed us its a sad day in the cardinals camp

Just to confirm that I have resigned as Secretary with immediate effect as a result of the lack of communication within the Club in general, and in particular on this occasion with regard to the Rugby League trip.

I was assured at the AGM that basketball remained the Cardinals first priority, from my point of view I am unable to do my job effectively if I am outside the loops of communication. This is not of course the first time that this has happened, for example in a previous season I was not made aware of the first team Coach's absence for the first 3 games, this led to problems with GBWBA which I was required to resolve.

Other members may be unaware that if the team(s) for example use shirts with incorrect numbering or fail to field a team for a match, then it is the Club Secretary who will be receiving the phone call from the League Secretary and who is asked to explain the Club’s actions and resolve the issue satisfactorily from GBWBA’s point of view. As the League Secretary is normally ringing me before anyone in the Club has communicated the information to me, I am at a disadvantage from the start. The fact that the GBWBA is aware of issues within the Cardinals before the Club Secretary highlights our inability to communicate adequately.

I believed that the Club Secretary’s role could be undertaken by someone such as myself who sits outside the playing membership, however I am not convinced that this is the case anymore. I now feel that the Club Secretary should be a playing member someone who sits within the loops of communication within the Club, someone who actually knows what is going on!

I will of course provide any support to whoever steps forward and is elected as my replacement. I have spreadsheets, letter headed paper etc which I can e-mail on without any problems.

I will be contacting GBWBA as soon as possible to update them with the situation.

Regards

Julie
